The Wedding Co. Mini Show and Photo Contest

I have some very exiting news!
I entered a national wedding photography contest by The Wedding Co.
One winner was selected from each Province, and one Grand Prize winner.
Well; I won the Grand Prize!!!
I was completely shocked!
I will be going to New York City this Fall for a portfolio review with the Editor of Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine.
I can't wait!
All the winning photographs will be on display at the Lennox Gallery from June 5th-17th.
You can also see some of the best vendors in the Industry, and get some great ideas for your wedding! So don't miss this unique show!
The Grand opening night is June 7th. 5-8pm.

Gary and Elisha - May 19

Gary and Elisha started the day with a traditional Chineese game.
Gary had to bribe his way into see Elisha.
This was followed by a Tea ceremony.
The bride and groom serve tea the their parents and elders as a sign of respect.
Then it was off to St. Patricks Church in Toronto, followed by the reception
with a full 10 course chineese banquet at The Ruby Restaurant in Markham.
It was non stop food!
A fun day with lots of laughs. I wish Gary and Elisha many, many happy years together.

Lisa and Aaron celebrated their big day with family and friends at the Bob Rumball Manor in Toronto. A cute little place for intimate weddings. The weather was cool, but that did not stop everyone from having a great time.

A beautiful spring day, for a beautiful wedding at one of my favorite restaurants in Toronto. Auberge Du Pommier.
This was the perfect venue for Amy and Jason to celebrate their big day.
Amy looked radiant, Jason was beaming. You could really see how happy they are together.
I wish them both many years of continued joy. Congratulations!

Viva Cuba!

I’ve been shooting weddings for about 12 years now.
And as much as I love being part of these often emotional, and beautiful events. I was starting to feel a need to go out and shoot something different. To recharge my creative batteries and prepare for another busy wedding season.
A trip somewhere new was what I had in mind. I’ve always wanted to see Cuba. So I booked a last minute flight to Havana. I did not want to do the typical resort type package. I wanted to experience the real Cuba.
So I stayed at a “Casa Particular” or private home in Central Havana. Upon arrival I was bit nervous, to say the least.

The Casa was in a very poor neighbourhood far from the tourist area, I was actually a bit taken back with the condition of the buildings, stray dogs everywhere, noise and confusion in the streets. But I soon learned that this was the norm in Havana. Everything is old and crumbling, but the streets are full of life.

And that is part of the beauty of Havana.
What I quickly learned, was that not only
were the crumbling facades the old American cars, that made this place so special. It was the people of Havana, their passion and soul! In a world of repression and distrust, it was amazing
to witness such resiliance.

You hear stories about the lifestyle and difficulties they face given the political situation there.
But to truly understand it I needed to see it for myself.
Not speaking Spanish added abit of an obstacle in trying to
communicate with the locals. But I managed.
Wandering through neighborhoods watching children play stickball, people hanging out in doorways, and balconies,
socializing with their neighbors was a refreshing change from our fast passed hectic lives in today’s modern world. Few people there have televisions, I barely heard a cell phone, and Internet is almost non-existent. It was a great lesson learned to see how happy these people seem without all the material trappings we in the western world take for granted.

I was graciously invited into people’s homes and offered homemade sweets, and fresh fruit; this was amazing for me to see considering how expensive things are for them. I had heard that when you go to Cuba bring things for the locals. I packed my suitcase full of toys, Candy,
teeshirts, even everyday toiletries, were very much appriciated. This woman below shown with her daughter told me how expensive it was to have a photos done, and that not many locals had pictures of their families. We exchanged addresses and I promised to send
photos to all the wonderfull families who were so kind to me.

I had gone to Cuba to capture images of life in Havana. What I did not expect was that
This amazing place and its beautiful people would capture my heart.

Africa

I had posted about this back in November before the book was ready.
I' ve since recieved my copies and I was so impressed I thought I would repost this for anyone else who might be interested.

As Canadians, I believe we are very fortunate to live in one of the greatest countries in the world with the best health care systems available.
As we all know it's not the same situation in Africa.
A good friend and fellow photographer, Roel Mahatoo traveled to Africa last year with his wife. He came back with some incredible images from his trip, and has published them into a book.
What is amazing is that he is donating One hundred percent (100%) of the profits to Foster Parents Plan with the funds being directed to
African projects that support and assist children
impacted by AIDS/HIV.

It is a beautiful book, and I think a great gift for anyone who loves photography, nature, wildlife, or just to help a much needed and worthwhile cause.

Rahim and Jin

One of the things I love about shooting weddings in Toronto is the variety of cultures we have here and being able to witness how people celebrate their special day. Rahim and Jim's started the day before when the families gathered to offer their blessings and come together for a fun filled night of dancing, at the Payal Banquet Hall in Mississauga Then it was an early start the next morning with the Sikh Ceremony at the Shromani Sikh Sangat in Mississauga.

A very touching moment as the bride leaves her parents to start her new life.
A quick dress change for Jin and
a few last minute preparations before the Ismaili ceremony.The reception took place at the Red Rose convention Centre in Mississauga. Some games were played, including this one which involved the Bride and Groom smashing these little ceramic pots filled with aromatic spices. The object is to be the first one to break it.

As you can see here Jin was clearly the winner, and from what I heard the loser
has to do all the household chores for the first year of marriage!
Looks like Rahim will be a busy guy!

I love the way Jin's beautiful dress sparkled in the light as they shared their first dance together.
I had a great time shooting their wedding it was an honour to be a part of this beautiful day. I wish Jin and Rahim many, many years of happiness together! I would also like to thank my new associate Deanne for helping me out.

Exiting new products!

I have been working with an amazing artist on some new product lines for this upcoming season.
Including these beautiful custom made albums, presentation boxes, and folios.
All made exclusively for our studio, using the finest materials;
including Japanese silks, museum quality archival papers, and luxurious leathers.
You really have to see and touch them in person to get a feel for the rich textures.
I am very exited to be offering these unique products to my clients.

Wendy and Eric - February 10, 2007

When I met Wendy and Eric last year, they told me about their winter wedding plans.
Which included an outdoor ceremony at the Pinestone resort in Haliburton in February.
I thought; Ok, risky! but sounds unique! And I love unique!
What a day it was, after driving up through a minor snow storm, the skies cleared,
leaving a beautiful blue sky, and fresh white snow for the background of what was a pretty cool wedding. Literally
Wendy's red flowers provided a striking contrast against the pristine winter setting.
Although it was incredibly cold! They had no problem keeping each other warm, with lots of kissing!!!
Congratulations Wendy and Eric!

Carl and Maria - January 27, 2007

Winter weddings can be beautiful, but also unpredictable.
As we discovered. the day started out with an ice storm.
Putting a last minute change in plans for outdoor pictures.
That is what I like about shooting weddings.
Things happen unexpectingly and you just have to go with the flow!
We stopped off at an indoor amusement park/mall. Where Carl and Maria
stopped for quick sketch self portrait. These little booths are so cool.
They take your snapshot and then generate a computerized sketch portrait.
I think this would be a cool idea for the guests at the reception.
(Or the portable speakers corner!)
Anyways they were really great about bearing the frigid temps and we managed to
get some nice shots out in the snow too! All in all it was a beautiful wedding!

I met up with some really great people on the weekend at the Wedding Co. show.
Not just couples getting married but also other vendors.
It was a really beautiful show and thought I would post a few pics for those of you who could not make it.

This is Karina from Posies, Floral designer and Event Architect! She was kind enough to
whip up a beautiful bouquet for my booth on a moments notice! Thanks Karina!

Planning weddings can be daunting task, I think hiring an event planner is such a great idea!
Elizabeth Wanless from Great Events had a nice display too.

This is the Sky room at the Carlu, with beautiful candle lit wall sconces. A restored, Art Deco Gem in the heart of the city. The Carlu is the perfect location for a wedding ceremony, and reception! I have shot weddings there before and it is one of my favorite downtown wedding locations!

It's hard to believe the year is almost over!
One more wedding for me on the 23rd to finish it off.
It has been a busy one, I am pleased to say.
Next year looks like it will be even busier!
I want to take this opportunity to thank all my great clients,
my assisant Yianni, and Associate Michael.
And of course my talented and patient dog lucky!
(She is such a poser!)
I am exited about some new things I am working on that I will be
showcasing here in the upcoming year including a newly designed custom album.

This show is smaller, more intimate than shows I have done in the past.

Michelle and Dean - October 28th

Michelle and Dean were married last month , and I am just getting to posting these now!
Anyways; the wedding was beautiful.
Michelle and Dean make a great couple! The weather could have been warmer but that did not stop us from getting some great shots, we went to Black Creek Pioneer village just outside Toronto for photos. I don't go there often, but it is one of my favorite locations to shoot in the fall, so I am glad we were able to make a stop there, I think we got some great shots.

Well it has been a busy wedding season,
and now we are getting into the Christmas rush.
Working on getting orders completed for the Holiday season.
I just wanted to upload a few pics I shot of Lucas in my studio last week!
I shot his parents Vince and Angela's wedding back in 2002.

What a great day! And a fun bunch in the wedding party. After the ceremony we all went to the distillery district in downtown Toronto for some photos, along with some delicious hot chocolate from Soma to keep us warm during the shoot.

Tanya and Dave - October 14

Tanya and Dave's wedding was held at the beautiful St Michael's Cathedral, in downtown Toronto, followed by their reception at the Pantages Hotel just a block away! In between we took a walk around the block, shooting downtown is so much fun as their are endless possiblities for interesting backgrounds.
Despite some crazy weather, (a hail storm right after the ceremoy) and me battling a cold.

Holly and Ron had a beautiful wedding at the Windsor Arms Hotel in downtown Toronto.
A perfect fall day, we were able to take advantage of some great locations very close by for photographic opportunities.

Holly looked Georgeous, and I think you can see her Joy just radiates in the shot.
As you can see the little flower girl was a bit camera shy!
What a cutie!

Another beautiful wedding.
Georgina and Mike started their day with a traditonal Chinese tea ceremony, followed by
a beautiful ceremony at the Bob Rumball Manor in Toronto. Then it was off to The Metropolitan Hotel Downtown for the reception dinner at Lai Wah Heen restaurant.
I really enjoyed this wedding. Even though the weather was not ideal, Georgina and Mike were good sports about it and it and I think we captured some great images.

Well the season is winding down, I've been quite busy these last few weeks.
Lots of beautiful weddings and images to come soon.
Sharon and Paul had an intimate wedding downtown Toronto, we went for pictures at
the distillery district, as it was very close to their condo. It's also a great place to shoot!
Then it was off to the reception at Lolitas Lust and The Chinchilla Lounge on the Danforth.
A very colorful, chic, place to hang out! Here's a few of my favorite photos from the day.

Dawn and Todd were married at the Cranberry Resort, in Collingwood.
Despite the unseasonable weather it was a beautiful wedding.
They went ahead with the outdoor ceremony, even hired a horse and carriage.
The setting was beautiful!

David and Ginette were married at the beautiful Casa Loma in Toronto.
It's a wonderful place for photographic opportunities. Lots of big windows with great natural light. I love shooting there.

This is not a typical wedding shot, but I could not resist, she was standing on the other side of a glass door, a bit dark, but something about this shot I really like.

A gorgeous conservatory with an incredible domed stained glass ceiling, this is where their ceremony took place.
This was their engagement portrait taken in June.

Well unfortunately the summer is coming to an end.
It has been a busy one around here. But the fall season is
my favorite time of year. Especially for outdoor photo sessions.
Fall is a great time for engagement sessions as the colors are really spectacular.
Yesterday I shot an Engagement session with Carrie and Paul.
They are getting married next September at a winery in the Niagara area.
I am looking forward to shooting their wedding. I enjoy these "e-sessions" with my clients
as it gives us an opportunity to get to know each other abit better before the wedding.

Evan and Colette - August 26

Evan and Colette held their wedding at a cute little place called The Mackenzie Inn, near Kirkfield, On. A beautiful, overcast day. Perfect lighting conditions.
This little flower girl was so cute, She had her walk down pat!
I love the grainy look of this image, an effect I used to achieve using hi speed black and white film. Now with digital imaging, and photoshop the creative possibilities are endless.
Sometimes I will take one image, like the one above, crop it add my artistic enhacements, and end up with a completely different looking image.She was so cute I couldn't decide which image to blog, so I'm using two.
My assistant Yianni took this detail shot. I really like it!

Dhimo and Kalpesh - August 20

This was my second Indian wedding this weekend.
I've covered many Hindu Weddings in the past.
This has to be one of the coolest.
Dhimo's family are Sri Lankan, so there were some cultural traditions I had not seen before.
It was a 14 hour day, filled with lots of color, a little chaos, incredible details,
and the results; I think were well worth it!
There was so much going on, that the day just flew by!
Dhimo and Kal were a fun couple, and made my job so easy!
This was another weekend that reminded me how much I LOVE my job!

This shot was taken at Dhimo's Mehndhi party two days before the wedding.

The Bridesmaids looked great, in sorbet colored Sari's

This is one of my favorite shots from the day, taken just seconds before Kal placed a ring on Dhimo's toe.
Here the Sacred Thaali, (necklace) and Bridal Sari are taken around to all the guests to recieve blessings.
The bride and groom join hands with the maid of honor and best man and take seven steps around the sacred fire, making vows at each step.
I love this moment captured with the parents.

A Sri Lankan tradition; the guests all come and sprinkle rice over the newly married couple to
bless them with a happy and contented life.

A sweet moment captured right after the couple exchange garland.

My associate Michael was a big help this day. This is one of his shots.

Ekta and Akash - August 19

I have been so fortunate this year to have some of the greatest couples!
Ekta and Akash; have to be near the top of my list! Very gracious, and sincerely
thoughtful, I loved being part of this beautiful, colorful, and sentimental day.
Thank you Ekta and Akash for entrusting me to document this event. I think we captured some beautiful images.
The Hindu ceremonies are full of beautiful customs, and traditions. These make for
great detail images.

Sonia and Nav - August 13

Sonia and Nav were married a couple weeks ago.
Two different ceremonies, first was the Sikh ceremony,
followed by a Christian ceremony.
Both were beautiful, with some great captured moments, and wonderful details.

Susannah and Rowan - August 12

These past couple weeks have been so busy, I just finished a four day session, two Indian weddings.
I was a bit exhausted on Monday, but it was well worth it! They were beautiful events with lots of color, and festivities. I'll be posting some favs from them very soon.

Susannah and Rowan were married on August 12 at Heintzman house in Toronto.
This was my first time shooting a wedding there.
A great venue with lots of character.

I love using natural light, this room where she was getting ready had great light.
Susannah has such great smile, her joy just radiates in this image.

Darren and Laura lucked out.
After the ceremony we went to the Guild Inn in Scarborough.
A popular wedding location, with great architectural features scattered through out
the grounds.

Jen and Ash - July 15th

Jen and Ash had a hot day, much like today.
The setting was beautiful! An outdoor country wedding in Bayfield, Ontario.

This is Jen with her Mom, just a few moments before the ceremony.

We stopped off at this quaint farm bed and breakfast, where I stayed for the night.
They had fainting goats! (Maybe it was too hot for them too!)

I love this captured moment!
The band took a break and Jen, Ash and friends started their own jam session!

Stuart and Michael - July 25th

Stuart and Michael have been together for 25 years!
Wow, what an amazing achievement.
On July 25th, 2006 they made their union legally official!
The ceremony was performed by Rev. Brent Hawkes of MCC Toronto.
(One of the leaders in making equal marriage rights in Canada a reality.)
Congratulations guys!

Kerry and Jeremy - July 8th

Kerry and Jeremy were married on July 8th at the Granite club in Toronto.
(I'm just getting to these now, my apologies, it's been crazy busy!)
I think we got some great shots!

I'm not sure what was said here, but the officiant, Kerwin Davies was quite amusing! He really knew how to put everyone at ease, a refreshing change from the norm! I love using natural light when I'm shooting, it brings out the real essence and mood of the scene, candle light is a good example of this.

This is another example of using ambient light. It's also one of my favorite shots from the day.

Jennifer and Thomas - July 1

Jen and Thomas had their wedding at the Liberty Grand in Toronto. What a beautiful event!
After the ceremony we stopped off for a few photos at The Adamson Estates.
Her flowers were amazing! Glendora Blake from Gorgeous Blooms did a great job,
I don't know how she managed to sew these little Rhinestone hearts on the delicate bouquet, but it looked incredible. Jen looked incredible too! I loved the back of her dress!
This is Glendora, a bit surprised by Jen and Tom's arrival at the Liberty Grand!

Music was a big part of this wedding, From a Marriachi Band, to the amazing band; True North Brass, and the Legendary Guido Basso Playing the Flugal horn. What a night!

To top all this off we went outside for an amazing view of the Canada day fireworks.

Lori and David - June 25

Lori and David had a quaint wedding at Auberge Du Pommier in Toronto.
This is a beautiful venue and one of my favorite places to photograph.
The day after their wedding I received this wonderful email from Lori and David and thought I would share it here;

This is Ekta and Akash. They are getting married next month!
We shot their engagement portrait on Friday afternoon.
A hot day in Toronto, we spent a couple hours walking around my neighbourhood.
There are lots of cool storefronts and art galleries in the area, we got some nice shots.
(I think I wore them out with all the walking about!)
Then we came back to my studio for a few last shots. What I like about this photo is it's simplicity! It really says alot about what I try to capture in my work; relationships, and emotion.

Jennifer and Thomas were married yesterday at the Liberty Grand in Toronto.
As it was Canada day, we decided to go out to get some shots with the fireworks.
The area was packed with people, we moved in for a better view, I thought all the spectators would be upset as we were blocking their view, when all of a sudden everyone broke out in applause for the happy couple! It was a great moment!

Dhimo and Kalpesh

Dhimo and Kalpesh are getting married in August.
We shot some great pics in the Distillery District tonight.
Just as we were getting ready to leave it started to rain.
I had them do a few quick shots by this Ivy covered wall,
and it turned out to be my favorite shot!

I love the grainy look of this image,
it reminds me of my film days shooting with Kodak 3200 speed black and white.
Shooting digital now gives me so much creative freedom!

Wow, what a busy month!
This weekend we were at Fantasy farm, my first time there! A fun little place.
And Sunday we were at one of my favorite restaurants
in Toronto for intimate weddings, Auberge Du Pommier.
I will be posting images from both these weddings soon.
Derrick and Anita were married last weekend, at the Toronto Marriot.
A long day with two tea ceremonies, a beautiful garden ceremony, and several dress changes.

I think the tea ceremony is such a beautiful custom for honoring the parents.

Sue and Brian had their reception at the Steam Whistle Brewery in Downtown Toronto.
My first wedding there, a great space! A great couple!
I love the joy in Mom's face.The natural light in this church was amazing!

I've seen some fun stuff done with engagement photos, but this takes the cake!
Brian and Sue work in the recreational sport industry so the skateboard was perfect!

I think children add so much to a wedding day.
Their spontaneity and care free spirit often make for some
incredibly hilarious and wonderful images.
This weekend was no exception with lots of them in Deirdre and Steve's wedding on Sunday.
The flower girls were adorable!If your wondering why Steve (the groom) is laughing so hard;
I had commented on how pretty Emeralds nails were; painted to match her flowers.
She then innocently showed me one finger, I won't say which one, but I'm sure you can figure it out!
It was a priceless moment!

A couple weeks ago I mentioned how much I enjoy shooting on overcast or rainy days!
Sounds crazy, I know, it's not what most brides want, but this weekend was a perfect example of what you can do when your given lemons! I think we made some beautiful images. When clients ask me; What should we do if it rains? I always say; bring umbrellas! Half jokingly; but it really makes for beautiful, romantic images, the wet pavement can provide some interesting reflections, and colors always look so rich. The little girl with the basket could not resist taking a peek at the doves, before they were released! She was too cute!

Pre-Marital Bliss

Well it has been a busy time for engagement sessions.
Next weekend my wedding season gets into full swing
with an Indian wedding on Sunday. I will be posting some images
from the wedding early next week. In the meantime I wanted to
post a few of my favorite shots from this past week. I love the
colors of spring, Fresh green grass and the newly grown leaves.
Sunday was a cold rainy day, but the rain makes everything look so fresh!
Also many couples pray for a sunny day for their wedding, but actually sometimes
an overcast or rainy day can produce even better images!

This is Andrew and Elisabeth; we took these shots at Trinity Bellwoods park, just a few blocks from my studio. Their getting married in a few weeks. I think they are a cute couple, and I know we will get some great images on their big day!

These were also taken this weekend. Derrick and Anita have a big day planned with several outfit changes for Anita. This is one of them, and I can't wait to photograph the others.
These shots were taken on the grounds of the CNE.

And last but not least, this is Jenneifer and Thomas.
We shot these pics at a fabulous Italian restaurant called Grano, near Yonge and Eglington.
They are getting married at Liberty Grand next month, and from what I've seen so far I know it will be a beautiful wedding!

Ian and Colleen were married last fall.
I am currently working on their wedding album.
Colleen was a bit nervous before the ceremony.
As you can see sitting in the limo before leaving for the ceremony,
you would never know it. She was pure elegance!
Seeing these photos again reminded me of how lucky I am to
be entrusted by couples to capture this important day.
Seeing their joy and emotion all over again just enforces how much I LOVE what I do!

Charanjit and Riyad

I Shot Charanjit and Riyad's wedding last September. It was a long day! 17 hours! But they were such a fun couple, the day just flew by. I love the dress she chose for the reception, it had incredibly beautiful detail with feather trim. We are just putting the finishing touches on their albums. Riyad had different ideas than Charanjit for what they wanted as far as pictures go, so rather than compromise, they each did their own customized album! We are presenting them together in a matching leather box. I think it's a great idea!

Amit and Nidhi

These photos were taken last weekend for Amit and Nidhi's engagement.
It was a cold and rainy day in Toronto, so we decided to shoot in my
studio. One thing I love about shooting in my loft is the huge windows, with honeycomb blinds, which act as a natural diffuser
to provide a beautiful, soft, light.
They are getting married next month at the Royal Ambassador in Colberg,
just outside Toronto. I shot another Indian wedding there last year.
It is a beautiful venue with a private lake, and country setting.
I am exited to photograph their wedding.
Amit will be arriving in the morning on horse back and greeted by Nidhi's family.
This ceremony is called the Baraat.
It is very lively with great music, usually live drummers, and an elaborately decorated horse.
(Sometimes the groom will arrive on an elephant! Although this is more comon in India, I have yet to see this done here, but I would love photograph one!)
Everyone gets in on the fun, dancing and celebrating. It is very colorful, and a great way to start the day. I will be sure to post some shots from their actual wedding day!

Penny and Oliver

This is Penny and her sweet dog Oliver.
(Oliver was a bit tired from running on the beach)
This shot was taken on my recent trip to LA.
Penny is my Aunt, and also one of my best friends!
Penny was the one who sparked my interest in photography many years ago on my first trip to California. We took a drive down the incredibly beautiful California coastline, all the way to Los Angeles. She loaned me her camera for the trip and I just knew right then that was what I wanted to do.
Penny has influenced my life in many ways.
She opened my eyes to an exotic world I new little about.
She has travelled all over the world and would often send me photos of the places she travelled, India, Thailand, Africa, etc. We have been to many art exhibits in Toronto, Chicago, and Los Angeles. I’ve always admired her free spirit and sense of adventure. I guess you could say I owe a bit of my creative passion and love of travel and photography to her. Thank you Penny!

Inspiration

I just returned from 9 days of inspiration, learning, and some R&R. First I was in Vegas for the annual DWF convention and WPPI trade show. DWF is an online forum of professional photographers I belong to. It was great to meet face to face with some of my peers, and see some incredibly talented speakers.
I learned a lot and look forward to putting some of these new ideas into my work.
Then it was off to LA for the Easter weekend while in LA, I went to see an amazing exhibit by Canadian born photographer and film Maker, Gregory Colbert.
Ashes and snow held at The Nomadic museum, at the Santa Monica Pier,
the venue itself was amazing , made of shipping containers by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban.
The exhibit was INCREDIBLE! I’ve never seen such beautiful imagery.
100 large-scale sepia toned images. They were all printed on Japanese paper, beautiful images, and film of animals and people together in their natural environments. Filmed over 14 years of his excursions to India, Egypt, Myanmar, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and several other exotic locations.
If you have a chance to see this traveling exhibit, don’t miss it!

Las Vegas

This weekend I am off to Vegas for the annual DWF convention, and WPPI trade show. It’s one of the largest events for wedding photographers. I will be networking with other professionals from around the world, attending an actual wedding of two photographers, to be photographed by some of the top photographers in the world. I am looking forward to my first time attending this event. I will be coming back with some great new ideas for the upcoming season,
which I am very anxious to get started with recharged batteries! It’s going to be a busy one, and I can’t wait!
I feel so fortunate to being doing something I just LOVE. After 12 years, of shooting weddings I still get exited about every one. I never know what will happen.

Zoe's Bat Mitzvah

Zoe’s Mom, Brenda came to see me last summer to book me to photograph this
important event in their family.
She wanted something less traditional to remember the day.
When she told me they were having it at Canoe restaurant, I knew it would be beautiful.

Kira and John

Kira and John live in Michigan, but have family and friends scattered throughout the US, they chose this location for the wedding and had me fly in from Toronto to cover the event.

One of the things I love about photographing weddings

Ekta and Akash's Engagement party

Spring has sprung!

Well, I just returned from a wedding in Washington, D.C.
The couple; Kira and John were super! It was a beautiful event at the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, in Vienna, Virginia, just outside DC. It was their annual Cherry blossom festival, I will be posting some shots of the wedding very soon! Speaking of flowers, I thought I would post this shot I took while in Barbados recently. (I love to do travel photography when Im not busy with weddings), I thought it was nice shot for my first entry and something to remind us that spring is right around the corner!
